The Downtown Shopping Area is part
of the Terrell Historical District. Our downtown boulevard echoes
an earlier time with vintage lighting and brick planters.
Terrell was named a Main Street City in 1985. The more than $4
million renovation, including new sidewalks, planter boxes, and
nostalgic lighting, that was accomplished under the Main Street
Program reflects the city’s commitment to retaining the charm of
yesteryear while enhancing commercial activity in the central business
district.
Several historic buildings have been updated to provide modern
offices and attractive shopping. Owner-renovated storefronts add
to the appeal of the area. One business owner transformed the Iris
Theater, built in 1925, into a retail shop, re-creating the look
and feel of the old theater in a small area in the store . Visitors
to the shop can watch vintage movies several times a month, sitting
in the original seats.
Visit downtown for a variety of retail shops, professional offices,
museums, and restaurants. Don’t miss the Heritage Museum in the
old Carnegie Library and the completely restored Brin Opera House
(now an office building).

US 80 Hi-Way Sale and Auto Cruise
The East Texas Tourism Association sponsored US 80 Event transforms
more than 200 miles of historic US Highway 80 into the second
largest yard sale in the country. The sale begins in Bossier City,
Louisiana and stretches to Grand Prairie, Texas on the second
and third weekends in October.
Join the crowd shopping the booths of hundreds of vendors, schools,
clubs, churches, and individuals selling everything from tools
to toys, baked goods to books, golf clubs to go-carts!
Canton First Monday Trade Days
Shop the world's largest flea market just 30 minutes from Terrell
in the town of Canton. During the weekend preceding the first
Monday of every month, 7,000 vendors cover 300 acres with their
wares. Antiques, furniture, clothing - even small livestock -
can be found on the Trade Days grounds.
