Community Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center providing
a full array of outpatient psychiatric services to persons with
a serious and persistent mental illness, as well as residential,
vocational, and habilitative services to persons with mental retardation.
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COMPANY:
Lakes Regional MHMR Center began operation on December 1,
1999, as a result of a Texas Department of MHMR re-organization
plan which had merged the Community Services Divisions of Denton
State School and Terrell State Hospital three years earlier.
The culmination of this plan was the creation of a new Community
MHMR Center, bringing local governance and control to the provision
of mental health and mental retardation services in this region.
At its inception, the Center served residents of a nine-county
area of north Texas.
We have enjoyed much growth since that time, and now operate
seven service sites in a 12-county area. The facilities located
in Terrell serve residents of both Kaufman and Rockwall counties.
