Terrell Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association

A new training facility for the officers who protect Terrell

TCPAAA is raising funds to build a modern firearms training range for the Terrell Police Department — at no cost to the department or the city.

The Terrell Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (TCPAAA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Terrell Police Department through volunteer service, encouragement, and partnership. Our mission is to foster trust, understanding, and unity between citizens and law enforcement while providing financial assistance that equips officers with the tools and resources they need to remain efficient, effective, and ready to serve our community.

The project

TCPAAA is currently seeking donations to help build a new firearms training facility for the Terrell Police Department. Terrell PD has partnered with Shooters Texas, who have generously donated land adjacent to their current range and committed to covering annual maintenance costs. When not in use by the department, the facility will be operated by Shooters Texas and open to the public.

  • 200-yard, 10-lane rifle range
  • Enclosed, climate-controlled building
  • Covered roof extending to the 25-yard line
  • 24-hour access for Terrell officers

Why it's needed

The department's current training site on FM 2578 is being encroached upon by new neighborhood development, limiting safe and effective training. It lacks the capacity for low-light scenarios, movement-based training, vehicle-based training, and group instruction — and environmental issues, including heavy mosquito and chigger infestation, further hinder its usability. Our officers deserve better.

After the tragic loss of Officer Jacob Candanoza, Shooters Texas approached the department with a vision for a partnership that would give Terrell officers 24-hour access to a professional, adaptable training facility for both emergency situations and routine training needs. As crime trends and threats evolve, this new facility will ensure our officers remain prepared to protect our community.

TCPAAA aims to raise enough funds to cover all construction costs, with no residual expenses to the police department or the City of Terrell, under a long-term agreement with Shooters Texas.

All donations are made directly to TCPAAA, which manages the funds, approves expenditures, and pays all project invoices. Contributions are tax-deductible, and every donor will be honored with a beautiful appreciation plaque displayed in the lobby of the new training facility.

TCPAAA is committed to showing up for our city — standing together, learning together, and working together to make Terrell safer, kinder, and stronger. Thank you for considering a donation to support this much-needed facility.

Sincerely,
