British Bash

On Saturday, November 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Historic Downtown Terrell will host the annual British Bash, a community celebration honoring the legacy of the No. 1 British Flying Training School (BFTS).

During World War II, more than 2,200 Royal Air Force cadets came to Terrell to learn to fly. The community embraced the young men, many just 18 years old, offering friendship and hospitality far from their war-torn homeland. Twenty cadets lost their lives during training and are buried in Terrell’s Oakland Memorial Park, where their memory is honored to this day.

British Bash will feature authentic British food, including fish & chips, meat pies, and scones, along with the Beatles tribute band Hard Night’s Day, performing from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Visitors can also enjoy the first British Christmas Market of the season, plus a FREE Kids Zone with activities for families.

This year’s Presenting Sponsors are Platinum Collection of Car Dealerships, Two Guys Promotional Products, Cane’s Chicken and Cliff’s Heating and Air.

A special remembrance will follow on Sunday, November 9, with a ceremony at the RAF plot in Oakland Cemetery at 3 p.m., followed by High Tea at the No. 1 BFTS Museum.
