Membership Engagement Specialist

This prominent role entails offering continuous support to our members, community, and Chamber.
The primary focus lies on membership and retention efforts. Reporting directly to the Chamber
President, this position holds significant responsibility.
Position Responsibilities:
● Acquire new members:
o Perform prospecting activities, including but not limited to, research, cold-calling and
scheduled sales visits
o Follow up on all inbound leads and provide information as requested
● Retain existing members:
o Contact members with unpaid dues to encourage payment and ensure membership
value
o Visit and hold phone calls with existing members to discuss membership value
● Attend Chamber events to increase contact with members and promote the organization
● Manage member ribbon cutting ceremonies
● Assist president with strategic planning and special projects.
● Develop and enhance relationships with chamber, association and business professionals to
enhance partnerships, information and services for the Chamber and our members.
● Participate in appropriate continuing leadership and professional development as identified
with the president.
● Assist staff team with special events through identification and procurement of sponsors and
speakers as needed.
● Ensure complete and thorough documentation of all customer interactions and membership
processes
● Help answer phones, greet and assist individuals that come into the Chamber when needed.
● Works renewal and past due accounts-targeted accounts as assigned
● Visit with new business coming to town
● Maintains ChamberMaster database to provide updated information for daily use and annual
Business Referral Guide
● Coordinate annual membership directory with Terrell Tribune
● Plan and lead Member Success Workshops through TVCC/SBDC scheduled small seminars
or members
● Actively support and participate in Chamber events and programs
● Coordinate Surprise Patrol and monthly member call and/or visits
● Oversee membership service
● Annual Civic Auction

o Coordinate and supervise accounting for auction night
o Keep track of all solicitation cards and list for the auction
● Annual Membership Banquet – assist in awards selections
● Schedule New Member Breakfast 6 times a year
● Other duties as assigned
Professional Skills Required:
● Strong organization, time management and multi-tasking skills
● Detail oriented
● Be a self-starter with effective follow-through skills
● Good communication skills, including written, oral and listening. This person must be able to
provide information to a wide range of internal and external contacts.
● Present a professional and positive image to members and the greater community through
appropriate appearance and grooming, demeanor and comments
● Have a positive, welcoming and professional manner in person and on the telephone
● Must be a reliable team player that works well in an adapting environment
● Must be able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends when
needed

Qualifications:
High School Graduate or equivalent
Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
Proficiency of computer applications and software including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel,
PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook

Preferred:
College Degree
